I designed this unit plan to use during hybrid learning in my sheltered Advanced English Learners class. It is an introductory unit to persuasive writing and includes a brief introduction to ethos, pathos, and logos. Students then begin practicing writing persuasive sentences. This research project asks students to create a 6-month survivalist plan for a family of four (two parents and two children). The students are given a starting budget and asked to create a presentation of their survivalist plan, which must include information about food, medical care, education, and more. This project is a great research project or extension activity for Tara Westover's Educated. The download includes detailed instructions for students and a rubric for teacher use.
