About the store

Teaching style

My teaching practices are, first and foremost, student-centered. I am passionate about connecting students with opportunities and helping them understand and apply information in real-world contexts.

My own education history

Homeschooled as a child, I enjoyed an education that encouraged me not only to identify and pursue my own learning goals, but to be accountable to my progress achieving those goals. Now, as an experienced educator, I'm paying it forward: I encourage my own students to hold themselves to the highest standards, to think critically in pursuit of goals and solutions, and to self-advocate in the face of challenges both academic and personal.

Additional biographical information

I am state certified (Arizona and Texas, respectively) for English, Reading, and Performance Arts, hold a master’s degree in rhetoric and teaching writing, and have substantial classroom teaching experience. My work on instructional pedagogy and assessment philosophy has been published in Current Issues in Education, Theory and Practice in Language Studies, and Educational Leadership, as well as featured at the Hawaii International Conference on Education, and Great Writing: the International Creative Writing Conference.
