Take advantage of a warm afternoon and practice identifying geometric shapes all at once! This activity can be completed indoors or outdoors- it is always nice to get away from our desks once in awhile!

I use these tabs, or pages, to organize student writing binders and separate them into 3 basic sections: information, projects in progress, and published drafts. They may also be glued into interactive writing notebooks to separate the same types of sections. My students take some time at the beginning of the year (or unit) to decorate their tabs as we set up the binders. These have been incredibly useful in keeping students organized!

Use this sheet to model how to partition a number line into fractions. Students split the box (1 whole) into a fraction using vertical lines. The lines are then extended to split the number line below the box. One large box and one number line per page. Laminate and use with dry erase markers.
Extensions:
*Assign different fractions to group members for size comparison.
*Line up more than one sheet to illustrate a "more than 1" fraction.
*Locate fractions on a number line. For example
Students will place the steps of the scientific method in order and identify the characteristics of solids, liquids, and gases. Bonus question included.
