This is an interactive lesson that guides students to observe the pattern of a Fact Family with familiar math facts in order to be able to apply the pattern to more complex problems later. It is a great review for students struggling to understand how to isolate unknown values in algebraic equations. The teacher key/guide can be removed from the end and then the Google Slideshow can be shared out to all students to interact with independently or whole class. Includes: - Add/Subtract Interactive

This Bell Ringer covers the Properties of Addition Separate from the Properties of Multiplication to allow for pattern setting. Following up later with the Properties of Multiplication allows students to revisit the patterns and continue to make connections between the two. It also requires them to daily identify the pattern they see that would indicate a particular property and explain. Can be downloaded in Google Drive for Digital version or as a PDF for a paper copy version. Included are: ~
This Bell Ringer covers the topic of Order of Operations. Students are required to know the order and explain elements of the concept in their own words. Students must demonstrate the use of it by solving equations and expressions showing each step as they solve. Students must also compare values as they solve demonstrating the importance of the concept of having an order for doing multi-operations within an equation. Breaking down word problems can be tough for many students. Teaching them the meanings or "code" for words that indicate add, subtract, multiply, or divide can help them break the code to determine the embedded message for the strategy to solve. This activity provides you an opportunity for whole class or collaborative student work to discuss and place these common words into a category for each operation.
