Texas Teachers… use these readiness questions in ways to best suit your student’s needs. You can use one question per warm up, you can mix them and spiral the questions, you can use them in quizzes and/or tests.

Here are 92 questions that you can use in class as exit tickets, homework questions, quiz questions, or even test questions :) Each box has a section called "Title." What I ask the students to do is to read the question and give it a math title based on the TEKS. For example, if the question is asking to them to put fractions, decimals, and percents in order, then they can title it "Compare and Order Rational Numbers." This will get them to train their brains how to categorize word problems.

Here is an exciting and fun mixed test review with a “Simon Says” twist.  Kids must answer math questions correctly to perform funny tasks.  The students raved about this particular activity. I highly recommend it!  I provided instructions for student and teachers.  In the PowerPoint, you will find things you will need to make copies of and a list of additional materials you will need.  If you have any questions about the activities, please reach out and I’ll clarify further.  Enjoy! Teachers, here is a MIXED REVIEW for the  6th grade Math state test (in my case being the STAAR test… from Texas).   We used the review to “Roast The Teacher.”  The students were highly engaged and were working hard as groups/partners to solve each question.  In the notes section of the slides, you will find some useful information.  If you prefer not to get roasted, feel free to delete a few slides (with instructions) and just use the questions. They are definitely worth it! Please leave an

Here is a wonderful word wall I put together for regular 6th grade math and PreAP math. It's important to discuss each picture you post on your wall so the students can better understand it and use it on a daily basis. It will only work if it has meaning to them (therefore it must be explained) and it must be used everyday when possible. For example, when students ask me, "Mrs. Benjamin, how do you convert a decimal into a fraction?" I walk them to the word wall rather than tell them :) In

Here’s an easy end of the year project for the end of the school year.  This could work for grades 5-6.  It is engaging because it includes a gallery walk of the top 7 best destination projects.  Please enjoy!  And please rate this and give any honest feedback so I can work better for you.  ***Being that it is not for a grade, a rubric is NOT included.

This is a spiral review to help students get read for STAAR.  The TEKS are mixed (just like STAAR test).  There’s a total of 28 questions.  Two of them came directly from STAAR.

Spiral Homework

Homework must be purposeful and intentional.  These three homework pages gives the students only four questions per day, mostly word problems, and the questions are spiraled.  The amount of questions per day is reasonable and not excessive. The reason for spiraling is because there is NO point of teaching something and not re-visiting it constantly.  This will aid the students in keeping their strengths throughout the school year instead of waiting until the last few weeks before the state exam.
