This is a ppt I created including the vocabulary words from the Rough-Face girl by Rafe Martin. It includes the words: desperate, faith, miserable, proud, ashamed, village, wigwam, and scarred. I also included pictures that go along with the words.
I used the vocabulary words: elongate, tension, cling, stretch, elastic, as shrink. I also added words such as: evaporation, precipitation, condensation, and water vapor as well. I defined the words and included pictures. One even has a link to a video to watch.
I hope this helps you as you piece together things for the Louisiana Guidebook: Thirsty Planet Unit.

We had the text this week on "One Well: The Story of Water on Earth" from the guidebook. This story did not really flow like a regular story would so I focused on standard RI 2.2 for this lesson which is about main idea and details. I figured I could have the students do a jigsaw activity and each work on finding the main topic or idea and at least 3 details on a page from "One Well" rather than trying to read the whole book every day. I found that this worked well. This is the powerpoint I used
I have created a ppt presentation based off of the LDOE cinderella guidebook unit. This story is what I taught on Monday-Thursday. This can be used by anyone who teaches this story.

I focused on the standard RL 2.4 on poetry/songs with "River Song". I taught the standard and focused on rhyming and alliteration. I will cover more of this standard later, but I wanted to introduce them to it and this lesson seemed the perfect time to do it!
I have created a ppt containing the vocabulary words from the story Cinderella by Marcia Brown. The words are: disposition, goodness, scolded, twitter, paraded, scarcely, conducted, courtesies, snub, spendidly, overtake, and haste. There are 12 words in total. Each slide contains the definition as well as a picture that goes along with it.
I used this with the Thirsty Planet story by Beth Geiger. The story contained many different text features so I felt like teaching text features all week would be beneficial. I used this Monday-Thursday to teach this concept.
I created a ppt on the words from the Cendrillon by Robert D. San Souci. I included the words: struggled, handful, lightened, elegant, well-spoken, riddance, peered, crossly, commotion, orphan, and peasant. I also included pictures on the slides as well that goes along with the words.
I have created a ppt on the vocabulary words from Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters by: John Steptoe.
The words included on this presentation are: considerate, uppermost, transfixed, enclosure, piercing, relief, worthy, bravely, hysterically, displeased, and faults. I also added pictures to the ppt to go along with the words.
This vocabulary ppt contains the vocabulary words, definitions, and pictures that go along with the Thirsty Planet passage by Beth Geiger. This is a lesson from the Louisiana Guidebook Thirsty Planet Unit.
I spent two weeks on this text due to the standards I chose to teach with it. This is Day 5-8. I didn't feel like it was as good as the Day 1-4 so I'm selling it at a cheaper price. You may find that some slides are similar to those found in Day 1-4, but not all. I felt it was good to review some of the same slides when explaining/modeling author's purpose and context clues. Day 5-6 Author's Purpose Day 7-8 Context Clues
