I have been a teacher for 25 years. Most of this time has been spent teaching high school physics and Calculus but I have also taught most all math and science subjects in grades 6-12.
Great activity for Newton's Third Law. Just a quick and easy lab sheet for the classic balloon rocket lab for 8th grade physical science but also appropriate for high school physics and conceptual physics or for 5th-7th graders that have more than one class period. Includes materials needed, procedure and some questions for students to answer. I put two of these to a page so that paper can be saved. Just a simple lab - but one of the year's favorites!!
This project is really fun for students in their first study of genetics. Using the guidelines and a survey data table, students make a pedigree of their family traits. I made this for 7th grade life science but it would also be okay for grades 6th-10th graders in their first study of genetics. It is a three page document which includes a data table for the survey and a letter home to the parents explaining the project.

A math worksheet that is fun for students to do on sixth grade math standards that incorporates their daily lives into the calculations they must do to calculate ratios and percents.
This is my version of the classic experiment of osmosis using an egg. Perfect for beginning biology. In a format you can send home with the students - modifications easily possible since it's a word document. It takes the students about 2 weeks to do this project at home using tap water, vinegar, and 2 liquids of their choice. Rubric Included for easy grading. The students love this project.
An assignment for life science to have students make an advertisement for a microscope. Includes criteria of what should be included and how it will be graded. Just a quick one page paper - but an idea of an assignment kids love to do.
Have your students make a poster to demonstrate the characteristics of life. This short description explains to students how to do this and gives clear expectations for their final product.
This is a project for students in grades 5-8 where they become the expert on one area of science and present to the class. There is a technology component involved and a class presentation. Handout includes a detailed grading rubric. See the preview for more details.

Experience
I have been a teacher for 25 years. Most of this time has been spent teaching high school physics and Calculus but I have also taught most all math and science subjects in grades 6-12.
Teaching style
I teach a hands-on science class where students learn by doing. In my math and physics classes I like the students to understand what they learn and also practice. I try to make both math and science fun and enjoyable but also challenging and content rich.
