This 3 minute narrated and animated PowerPoint on Parabolas Min or Max works great as a bell ringer activity that still covers a Common Core (CCSS) High School Algebra topic HSF-IF.C.7a on quadratic functions minima and maxima. It should run automatically giving the teacher 3 minutes to take attendance or prepare for class. There is an exit problem with a parabola y = x^2 -3 as the answer. This would work well for summer school, substitute teachers, and homeschoolers.

Teaching style
I like to use a step-by-step approach and keep the terms simple until students display an understanding of the material. I believe Math can be fun and I try to share my enthusiasm with my students. One of my 8th graders once asked me if my mom dropped me on my head when I was little. She figured that was the only way someone would major in Mathematics and actually enjoy the subject. I really enjoy teaching higher Math courses and working with 10th - 12th graders.

B.A. in Mathematics from Washington & Jefferson College in PA. Fortunate to have awesome Math Professors!

Love history and genealogy, but I guess they go hand in hand. I was an archivist for a local historical society.
