Free PowerPoint Make Algebra Easy Create an Equation CCSS (A-CED)

This narrated, animated 3 minute PowerPoint presentation on Creating an Equation works great as a bell ringer activity for an Algebra class. It should run automatically and will give the teacher time to take attendance while giving students a Common Core State Standard (CCSS) to work on at the same time. The answer to the Exit problem is C = 12h + 3572 and should make creating an equation easy for students. Hopefully students will enjoy the topic of saving up towards their first car. This al

Experience

Over 18 years teaching and tutoring Algebra, Algebra 2, Geometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Pre-Algebra, 6th,7th Grade Math, SAT prep, GRE prep, PSSA prep. I've taught at a local Community College (Algebra and Algebra 2), a Christian High School, an online High School.

Teaching style

I like to use a step-by-step approach and keep the terms simple until students display an understanding of the material. I believe Math can be fun and I try to share my enthusiasm with my students. One of my 8th graders once asked me if my mom dropped me on my head when I was little. She figured that was the only way someone would major in Mathematics and actually enjoy the subject. I really enjoy teaching higher Math courses and working with 10th - 12th graders.

Awards & shining teacher moments

Who's Who in Junior Colleges. Can't remember the year or which professor nominated me.

My own education history

B.A. in Mathematics from Washington & Jefferson College in PA. Fortunate to have awesome Math Professors!

Additional biographical information

Love history and genealogy, but I guess they go hand in hand. I was an archivist for a local historical society.
