Google Sheets NYS Algebra 1 Regents Auto-Scale Scoring

Created by
Making Math EZ
Use this sheet to automatically grade your students' performance on Algebra 1 regents exams. Input the numerical value the students got for each question and then the sheet will automatically adjust for the scaled score. Students who get above a 65, the cell will turn green. I suggest leaving the template and just duplicating it to actually use the sheet. You can use this sheet to track students' progress until the exam. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement!

Linear Functions Performance Task

After learning to identify slope and y-intercept from a table, graph, and equation, students will use these new skills, as well as their knowledge of function notation to create linear functions, their table of values, and graphs. Students will then choose one function and write a story or situation that can be modeled by the function. Students can decorate their graphs for added aesthetics. This performance task is great for bulletin boards, as well as an alternative assessment. Th

Scale Factor/Drawing Project

Combining math and the real world, students get to choose an object of their choice (as long as they can find at least 2 dimensions!) to make a scale drawing of. Students present their drawing on graph paper, choose a scale to use the entire project, and write a paragraph for why they chose the object and how they chose their scale. My students had a lot of fun with this. I suggest using this as a culminating activity, as well as giving at least one class day to work on it. Fairly easy & enjoy

Peer Tutoring Badges

As students finish working, show mastery of a topic, another way to solve problems, or have great confidence in a skill, they have the opportunity to be a Peer Tutor. Peer tutors wear "Peer Tutor" badges, as well as sign up on a board displayed in the classroom. Additionally, students get participation credit for being a peer tutor. I have classes of about 30 students and have at most 4 peer tutors at a time. **Print two sided, then just fold them over and cut the circles then laminate**

3 Point Classwork/Group Work Rubric

Created by
Making Math EZ
Very easy to follow, 3 point rubric designed to teach students how to engage in group work-- by participating, by listening, and by giving your best effort. Initially, students are meant to individually grade their entire group using the rubric with an explanation. If the rubric is continually used throughout the year, students should be able to honestly grade their group and/or reevaluate how they are working together by referring to the rubric.
