Decimal Operations Scavenger Hunt

Use this four question scavenger hunt to end your decimal operations unit. I used the Avengers as the people in the problem, but you can change it to teacher names too. The directions are on page 1, the student response sheet is on page 6 and the questions are pages 2-5. The questions address adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing decimals but include geometry and word problems so students have to decipher the information. You can use these in a group of four and students switch cards, y

Google Sheets NYS Algebra 1 Regents Auto-Scale Scoring

Use this sheet to automatically grade your students' performance on Algebra 1 regents exams. Input the numerical value the students got for each question and then the sheet will automatically adjust for the scaled score. Students who get above a 65, the cell will turn green. I suggest leaving the template and just duplicating it to actually use the sheet. You can use this sheet to track students' progress until the exam. Please let me know if you have any suggestions for improvement!

This activity can address NGLS 8.E.E.6B and AI-A.CED.1. It can also be used to prepare for or review linear functions/relationships.  These slides accompany the student sheet performance task. The student sheet has 3 glow and grow sections on the page so you can cut that page in 3's. THE SLIDES ARE LINKED IN THE STUDENT SHEET AND WILL CREATE A FORCED COPY!!!There are two sets of slides--the original idea I had that is more of a lesson (1-7) and the edited one which is more of a performance/bulle

Use this survey to learn how your students like to learn and a little more about them as people! This is set up to print landscape 2 sides and then use a paper cutter to cut them in half, so if you have 24 students, only print 12 copies!

This resource is able to be printed on one sheet of letter paper (front and back) and shows in detail how to solve systems by elimination, substitution, and graphing (both by hand and on the TI-83/4 Graphing Calculator), but can also be printed and cut to be glued in as a resource. Although the thumbnails show three pages, it is only 2 pages.

Linear Functions Performance Task

After learning to identify slope and y-intercept from a table, graph, and equation, students will use these new skills, as well as their knowledge of function notation to create linear functions, their table of values, and graphs. Students will then choose one function and write a story or situation that can be modeled by the function. Students can decorate their graphs for added aesthetics. This performance task is great for bulletin boards, as well as an alternative assessment. Th

Print this "GEMA" scaffold to print or share with your students G- Grouping Symbols with images included E- Exponents with examples included M- Multiplicative operations (this helps prevent students from getting "stuck" on the misconception to "multiply then divide") A- Additive operations (similarly to the above, this helps prevent students from getting "stuck" on the misconception to "add then subtract")

Scale Factor/Drawing Project

Created by

Combining math and the real world, students get to choose an object of their choice (as long as they can find at least 2 dimensions!) to make a scale drawing of. Students present their drawing on graph paper, choose a scale to use the entire project, and write a paragraph for why they chose the object and how they chose their scale. My students had a lot of fun with this. I suggest using this as a culminating activity, as well as giving at least one class day to work on it. Fairly easy & enjoy

3 Point Classwork/Group Work Rubric

Created by
Making Math EZ
Very easy to follow, 3 point rubric designed to teach students how to engage in group work-- by participating, by listening, and by giving your best effort. Initially, students are meant to individually grade their entire group using the rubric with an explanation. If the rubric is continually used throughout the year, students should be able to honestly grade their group and/or reevaluate how they are working together by referring to the rubric.
