In this lab, students will record the distance they travel in 40 seconds down a hallway. This lab ties in physics with nature of science/inquiry. The lab report includes hypothesis, procedure, materials, data table, *graphing and analyzing data, observations, conclusion and sharing results with another group. Students will cut out 30 squares to match the following
- Discovery Made
- Scientist who made the discovery
- Year the discovery was made
- Image of the discovery
Once students have cut out the pieces and grouped them accordingly, teacher will check the answers.
Students will then create a cell timeline using the pieces on Legal sized paper
This card sort covers 9 body systems: - Digestive - Endocrine - Integumentary - Excretory - Skeletal - Muscular - Nervous - Circulatory - Respiratory There are 3 ways to use this card sort activity. 1. Students will lay the 9 system cards out on table and match the system to the organs/structures and functions. 2. Students can use the card sort worksheet and write the card # next to the system. This can be in class or homework assignment. Students are not only given a prompt but are given guidelines for what each paragraph should include. Students will discover the effect of potential energy on kinetic energy by dropping a bouncy ball from different heights and measuring the rebound height. Students will choose between making a mini poster, a hand made brochure, create a website on wix or google sites, or create a digital brochure using an online website (The site allows students to sign up using student google account and allows students to save work. The site similar to microsoft publisher but is cloud based). Students will research energy transfer examples light energy, chemical energy, sound energy and light energy. Distance Versus Time Lab-- Graphing Motion
Students will graph motion of them walking for 40 seconds in 5 second intervals.
At my school, each tile in our hallway is 1 foot in length. Therefore, students count the tiles then multiplied by 30 to convert to centimeters.
Other option would be to place tape on the ground for measurement or give each group a tape measure.

Teachers: Teacher will print power point on card stock, I recommend 4-6 slides per page to make them into cards. Each set should have a number or color mark on them. Example, one set of cards should all have a blue star on them and another set of cards should have a pink star written on each card. This will prevent card decks from being mixed up between groups. Students will receive a stack of cards. Teacher should ask students to count the numbers of cards in the set, it should be 16. Students
Students will choose what type of project they want to do to demonstrate knowledge of glacial erosion and deposition. I find 2 class periods (55 minute classes) is plenty of time. I have included all 6 rubrics for the 6 choices which are:
- song, rap or poem
- quiz with 5 different types of questions and must give quiz to 5 people
- brochure or foldable
- powerpoint or prezi
- venn diagram or t chart

Each PowerPoint slide has four sides, each side has either a vocabulary word or a definition.
Print the PowerPoint Presentation 6 slides per page and cut them into rectangular pieces. Place the pieces into a plastic bag. If you want to save the game pieces, you can laminate the pieces or glue onto index cards.
Give each group of students a plastic bag with the 12 paper pieces. Tell them to try and match 1 side of a piece with 1 side of a different piece. Continue to do so, until all 12 pieces
