This lesson allows students to explore scale drawings by creating a new drawing based on scale factors. Students are given a shape and a scale factor and then must create the enlarged or reduced shape. This lesson also includes hint cards to prompt students that may be stuck. To finish the lab, students will make connections between the area and scale factor of the figures. This worksheet and protocol allow for students to have a stronger understanding of parts of a circle and circumference of circles. There is also a section at the end for students to draw circles using a compass. If compasses are not available, they can use a ruler.
