Print and place in sheet protectors for students to use daily with dry erase markers. This is a great tool to help students compare place values and learn decimals to the hundredths place.

This is real data about the size of zoos across the globe. I used this as a warm up at the beginning of class to generate a discussion among students about the most appropriate graph to represent the data.

To demonstrate understanding of proportional relationships, students create scenarios for a proportional relationship and a non-proportional relationship and then create a table and a graph for each scenario. Students must explain what makes their scenario proportional or not proportional. I use this as an assessment in class. It could also be used as homework, review or a project in the classroom. This lesson allows students to explore scale drawings by creating a new drawing based on scale factors. Students are given a shape and a scale factor and then must create the enlarged or reduced shape. This lesson also includes hint cards to prompt students that may be stuck.
