This is a difficult concept to waste, so having explicit instructions on how to solve these problems has proven to be helpful to them.

This foldable needs to be copied front and back and cut in half for students to glue in their Interactive Math NB's. This aligns with Go Math! Chapter 3 Lesson 3.7 and 5.NBT.7. Have students place a strip of glue on the vertical tab and use this as a reference for estimating decimals sums and differences.

This skill seems to be so difficult for my students every year. I have found that exposing them to all of the ways in which a remainder may be interpreted and then providing them of examples of each, has been meaningful.
