Cross Curricular Statistics Project
This project is about collecting and looking at data. Students will practice stem and leaf plots, bar graphs, histograms, and box and whisker plots in this project.
They will choose books that they enjoyed reading and count adjectives or adverbs on randomly selected pages. They will then use these numbers to find means, medians, modes, and ranges. Students are then asked to analyze the data.
This project teaches students to perform and write a formal statistical analysis of data.

I have six children of my own, all with very different abilities in math. Helping them understand math has given me many ideas to use in the classroom and unique ways to explain the material.
Teaching style
I believe that everyone can learn mathematics. I believe that teachers just need to find what makes the student have the ah-ha moment.
Students learn best by seeing, experiencing, and practicing concepts. Each student learns differently, and no tool works for all students.
I teach students with the tools they can best understand, which means I'm always looking for and devising new tools to help the students: TEMPLATES to help them organize their work and the steps necessary, VISUALS to manipulate on their own, VISUALS to demonstrate, REPETITION in writing out work, EXPERIENCES to physically do the problems out.
