15 years upper elementary and junior high math. I don't teach just one concept a day, I teach all math concepts everyday. We add, subtract, multiply, and divide with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions starting from day 1 in my 5th grade classroom. My worksheets produce results!! Also, each one has an electronic ANSWER KEY to pass along to parents to help their child.

This is a 197 PowerPoint file that has many custom animations and sounds that can be used in whole group or small group. I prefer to use this file in small group settings in a computer lab that has Microsoft PowerPoint. Students that are near the same ability level partner up and work on this together. This is a 6 page file that previews and rehearses with students multi-step word problems as it relates to 5th and 6th grade math standards. The remaining 6 pages are answer keys. This is a critical component I do with my students on the days/weeks leading up to any statewide assessment in which one's scores are heavily evaluated for both teacher and school performance. Review material is key to do in addition to rehearsing the types of questions that are done on such statewide assessments.

This is a worksheet that is a quick touch up on all the integer rules as it relates to basic computation for positive and negative numbers. There are also a few questions that deal with comparing and ordering positive and negative values along with a few one step equations. After introducing integers and students have studied them for a while, this is a real quick review that doesn't take too long to refresh one's brain on the integer rules.

This is a worksheet designed to use formulas for a variety of geometric shapes when finding area. Students will have to find the area of the entire lot of land, subtract the area of all objects, find the total area of grass and then determine the cost to fertilize the grass based on how much fertilizer comes in a bag. This is a good multi-step problem in which the final answer depends on previous answers.

Teaching style
Never let the brain stop working. Stimulating the brain is most important. Constant review is always spiraled in lessons everyday. I use these worksheets and Power Points daily and frequently pop quiz to hold students accountable. All students are always randomly called on to keep them honest and engaged 3-4 times per class when whole group instruction is used; independent work time and small group instruction to rep out math problems are critical to do each day. Students are expected to work as the expectations are set high; it can be a culture shock to start the year, but students show great growth.
