About the store
15 years upper elementary and junior high math. I don't teach just one concept a day, I teach all math concepts everyday. We add, subtract, multiply, and divide with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions starting from day 1 in my 5th grade classroom. My worksheets produce results!! Also, each one has an electronic ANSWER KEY to pass along to parents to help their child.

Place Value of Whole Numbers and Decimal Worksheet
This is a nice worksheet to do after some study has been done with both the place value of whole numbers and decimals. I usually pull my lower kids to work with in a small group while the rest of my class works on this independently. I post the answer key online for kids to check afterwards from my class website or if I feel kids are "cheating" the system and not learning/fixing mistakes on their own, I will print off a hardcopy or two to keep at my desk with me.

Integer Computation Negative Positive Numbers Add Subtract Multiply Divide
This is a worksheet that is a quick touch up on all the integer rules as it relates to basic computation for positive and negative numbers. There are also a few questions that deal with comparing and ordering positive and negative values along with a few one step equations. After introducing integers and students have studied them for a while, this is a real quick review that doesn't take too long to refresh one's brain on the integer rules.

This is another review worksheet of basic math concepts that students need to master in order to pass statewide testing. The answer key is also included to post for students to use as needed.
It is essential that review is done at a minimum of 2-3 times per week in order for students to not forget things that have been taught.

This is a weekly review sheet I make my students do so they don't forget how to add/subtract/multiply/divide with decimals, fractions, and integers. One must touch on all of this or the rules will be forgotten. This would also be a nice remedial review worksheet for kids at the 7th and 8th grade level.

Add and Subtract Fractions Mixed Numbers w/Fraction Concepts
This is a worksheet to do after some extensive practice has already been done on adding/subtracting fractions. I sometimes will use this well after a "unit" has been taught to touch up on the basics of adding and subtracting fractions. I usually will pull kids to work with in a small group setting that need more help. This is one example of a multi-step word problem using AREA in REAL WORLD CONTEXTS (area of 4 walls and buying paint to cover) in which the previous answer builds into the next problem, similar to any statewide assessment given to kids. Frequent repetition on these types of problems builds confidence for kids to not get freaked out when given a multi-step word problem.

It is never too early to give students math problems in word problem/testing format. The more often students work on these kinds of problems, the better. EQUATIONS, MONEY, and VARIABLES are always formally tested and I do these weekly. This 2 page worksheet also includes an answer key in RED showing work and number sentences for your students to see the correct thinking when solving if you post on a class website, online, etc.

5th 6th Grade Add Subtract Fraction Packet (w/ Answer Bank)
This packet is one that I love to take for a grade once we've already learned fraction concepts and equivalent fractions. The answers for the first 27 problems are listed on the back page of the packet for students to use to assist them in writing their final answers in simplified form. Teaching style
Never let the brain stop working. Stimulating the brain is most important. Constant review is always spiraled in lessons everyday. I use these worksheets and Power Points daily and frequently pop quiz to hold students accountable. All students are always randomly called on to keep them honest and engaged 3-4 times per class when whole group instruction is used; independent work time and small group instruction to rep out math problems are critical to do each day. Students are expected to work as the expectations are set high; it can be a culture shock to start the year, but students show great growth.
