This guided note sheet is intended for the first day of solving systems. (I originally made this for when I had a sub, but found it to be helpful). This includes what a system is, an example of graphing and how to check. Answers/key points to mention included.

This activity includes 22 Order of Operations problems, with two of each answer from 0 to 10. Students can self-check by ensuring that they have two of each type of answer. Included are problems that address common student misconceptions, operations with negatives and squaring both positive and negative numbers. This set of stations allows students to practice solving systems with substitution. The answer to the problem leads students to the next problem that they should solve (kind of an "Around the World" review approach).

This is a great activity to help students review the coordinate plane. It promotes higher thinking and collaborative learning. I have students work in pairs to sort/match up the cards. A hint for students, depending on the level, is that there should be six groups with four cards each. You can easily eyeball the cards to see if students are on the right track. I have my students complete this without notes or a coordinate plane visual, but you can choose what works best for your classroom.

This is a flowchart that I display for students to use as a guide when taking a test. Think of the green, yellow and red background as beginning the test, during the test and finishing the end of the test.

This activity helps students discover the distributive property by relating it first to real life. This would make a great cooperative learning activity or could be assigned for students to work on independently. This is intended to be used when introducing students to the distributive property for the first time, but could also be used as a re-teaching tool. Answer key included.

This activity helps students discovery what happens when you reflect a figure over the x-axis or the y-axis. Students also review finding perimeter and area from a figure on the coordinate plane. This activity is great for practicing simplifying variable expressions. All problems include the variables of m, a, t and h (you may want to point out to students that the 't' has a slight curl at the bottom compared to an addition symbol). To go further with this activity, you can then have students create and simplify similar problems involving the letters of their name, the name of your school, their favorite color/sports team/musical artist, etc...

This worksheet contains 4 substitution problems - students must solve and check. I use it as a check in/exit slip the day after I teach substitution, but it could be used as a homework assignment, review assignment or a quiz. Answers included.

This is a practice activity that pulls together the 3 methods for solving a system of linear equations (graphing, substitution and elimination). Worked out solutions included. Could be used as an in class activity, a mini assessment or homework.

This is the perfect assignment to use after first introducing the Order of Operations. Includes problems where students make mistakes by breaking the Order of Operations.
