Students will use a straight edge to draw two convex polygons and discover the triangle sum theorem by connecting the vertices and completing a guided chart.
In a world where technology is the primary source of entertainment, resource and creativity, students will have the ability to work hands on with materials (like kids did back in the old days) to show the relationship between points, lines, planes and line segments and create a 3 dimensional model.
Materials needed: Foam rectangular cutouts, straws or pipe cleaners, pompoms or stickers. (additional materials can be supplemented)
This is a discovery activity where students will use plastic pieces of various lengths that snap together forming sides of triangles in order to discover the relationship between the side lengths of a triangle and the types of triangles they form, if they even form a triangle.
This can be done with different size popsicle sticks, straws or even string.
At the end of the activity there are essential questions that students are required to answer, leading them to the properties of triangles they
Students will be assigned a state, and given a map, in which they will be required to start a business in. They should choose their business based on their research about the state, its geographical location, economy and resources. They will then need to determine three cities in which they will start their business, thus forming a triangle. Their headquarters must be chosen using one of four points of concurrencies: centroid, incenter, circumcenter or orthocenter. They will chose one based on

Teaching style
Discovery Based Learning is what my teaching preference is. Allowing students to take responsibility for their learning and guiding them through the process helps make the content "stick" better than presenting it through lecturing. They also enjoy the various activities and differentiation the DBAs allow.
