Matching Using the First and Second Derivative Tests
This activity is a great way for students to review the first and second derivative tests and describe key features of a function. Students will work in pairs (recommended) to take a function and use the first and second derivative tests to find intervals of increase and decrease as well as intervals of concavity. Teaching style
Discovery Based Learning is what my teaching preference is. Allowing students to take responsibility for their learning and guiding them through the process helps make the content "stick" better than presenting it through lecturing. They also enjoy the various activities and differentiation the DBAs allow.
