This is a 5 station compare and order whole numbers to the millions activity. I include a recording sheet so that you can track student's participation at each station. The stations focus on Celebrity Net Worth and ordering what celebrities make the most money and what celebrities make the least money. I have taken images of Pokemon Go and adjusted their Combat Power to be rational numbers to the thousandths where students get to compare. Get students engaged with this great 5 station rotation!!!

This game is 18 expanded notation questions focusing on tenths and hundredths. The game is played student vs student. Student 1 chooses the emoji he/she wants to answer. If they are correct they get the points. If they are incorrect then they get no points. Then student 2 goes and the process repeats. All questions have similar vocabulary and question stem as released STAAR tests

This is a 16 question gallery walk (with recording sheet) focused on getting students to recognize and make visual representations of decimals to the tenths and hundredths. I focus this lesson not only on money representations but also using a tenths and hundredths chart.

This activity is where QR codes meet task cards. It is 15 questions. The way to perform this for your students is to cut horizontally across the paper where you get the fraction, qr, and decimal all on one strip. You then cut the QR down the middle. resulting in 1/2 having the fraction and half the QR then the other 1/2 having the decimal and the other half of the qr. Students must then match the fraction to the equivalent decimal. Then they must line up the QR the best they can and it will scan

In this cross-curricular lesson students must research about a region in Texas. They then must find 10 cities in that region and find the population of 6 of these cities. They then must convert these 6 populations into Expanded Notation and write them out in word form. Finally, the students must create a brochure about their region.

When beginning decimals it is important for students to have pictorial models. This lesson focuses on 4.2F AND 4.2G of Texas STAAR. This activity is 20 questions. These Review mats are a hit with the students, simply because they are on 11X17 paper!!! This particular mat is 10 questions all focused around Category 1. Make sure to print them on TABLOID paper (11X17). You can print them on normal 8.5X11 paper as well! I use these review mats as daily reviews, doing a couple of questions a day, or the whole mat in one day to drive my math review instruction.
