STEM Truss Bridges and Civil Engineering
A very inexpensive Truss Building STEM or STEAM activity. Students design bridges using straws and tape. Students are given design parameters. This activity promotes using the engineering design process. Civil engineering is also introduced. This activity can be used in math during a geometry unit or in physics during a forces unit. This unit has been done with very advanced 4th graders and can be used for higher grades. It is a stepping stone for students who design truss bridges in high schoo
