A very inexpensive Truss Building STEM or STEAM activity. Students design bridges using straws and tape. Students are given design parameters. Need more practice with extended constructed response questions? Each question has four parts and one "Just Curious" extension, an answer key, and a rubric if you choose to use one. Each question is part of the Numbers and Operations in Base Ten standards 5.NBT.1. The questions have specific standards written on them for easy reference and the table of contents lists the mathematical skills covered in each question.

The assessment includes five pages with a total of 20 questions. It is comprised of direct computation and word problems. Questions are intentionally not numbered to allow flexibility of use. It may used as a shortened test, five separate quizzes, practice sheet or as a math station.
