I am Mrs. Miracle and this is my 12th year being an elementary school teacher. I LOVE my kids and I LOVE teaching math! I have taught 2 - 4 grades, but currently just 4th grade math.
A 2 sided fold-able book where students can draw and describe the attribute of these 5 plane shapes: circle, triangle, square, rectangle, rhombus, pentagon, and hexagon.
Powerpoint file that is completely editable to meet your needs!
18 pages of Quiz, Quiz, Trade cards with answers. Cards are meant to be printed on cardstock and folded in half with the answer on the back. It is best to laminate these cards. Students play Quiz, Quiz, Trade with them to practice: -Identifying names of solid and plane shapes -Identifying the attributes of solid shapes (faces, edges, and vertices) -Identifying the attributes of plane/flat shapes (sides, corners, vertices) -Identifying the shape based on attribute clues How to play Quiz, Quiz, T
* I use this as a supplement lesson for Math in Focus. I don't like how they present solid shapes, so I use this lesson to teach them using math vocabulary (faces/vertices)
This Powerpoint lesson teaches the basic solid shapes (cube, rectangular prism, cylinder, cone, pyramid).
It includes real life examples of each shape, a practice activity, and an exit slip to assess students ability to identify shapes based on their properties.
* I use this as a supplement lesson for Math in Focus. MIF does not address the common core standard 2G.1 to fidelity, so I use supplement lessons to teach it.
This Powerpoint lesson teaches the concept of symmetry. It reviews the plane shapes taught in a previous lesson (triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, and hexagon) It uses these shapes to discuss lines of symmetry.
It includes a hands on practice activity and an exit slip to assess students understanding of symmetry.

This Powerpoint lesson is used to teach plane shapes (triangle, rectangle, square, oval, circle, pentagon, hexagon, octagon, and quadrilateral).
Lesson vocabulary: Side and Vertex/Vertices
Practice Activity included where students must name the shape and identify the number of sides and vertices.

I combined chapters 18-19, and I tweaked them to go with the commoncore standards. These exit slips go with lessons and activities that teach the basic flat shapes (triangle, square, rectangle, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon), basic solid shapes (cube, cone cylinder, rectangular prism, sphere, and pyramid), symmetry, corners/edges/sides and /vertices/faces.
3 activities and 4 exit slips (2.G.1)
1 exit slip on lines and curves
1 practice sheet on 2D plane shapes (sides and corners/vertices)
