This activity helps students translate word descriptions into equations and solve them. It includes three levels of difficulty (8 questions per level): Level 1: One-step equations Level 2: Two-step equations Level 3: Multi-step equations Each problem begins with the phrase, “I’m thinking of a number,” followed by a description of operations performed on that number to produce a result. The response sheet provides space for students to write the corresponding equation and determine the solutio

This is an interactive Google Slides activity for students to understand how to represent an equation using a hanger diagram. Students use tile pieces to create diagrams given an equation and write an equation given a hanger diagram. I use this activity to support the Illustrative Mathematics curriculum. Included are student slides, answer key, and extra editable templates (so you can create more problems if you want).
This is a Google Slides file that I used with my 6th graders to practice combining like terms. Students use the tiles to identify like terms and create equivalent expressions. Includes answer key and slide templates to make/edit your own.
This assignment can either be done in g.slides or can be printed and cut out. Expressions are written on tangram pieces so that when the equivalent expressions are lined up, the tangrams form a picture of a cat.
