Why a Stop and Jot? A wide variety of students struggle with determining how to solve short answer questions. The idea of a sentence stem helps students focus on COMMAND WORDS which tell students to do something in a regents question. This is a review game that a colleague and I created during the course of an afternoon of PD. The first slide on the full version is a tic-tac-toe board. I divide my class into two teams and have them take turns picking different questions on the board. When a student selects the question I have the questions covered with a creative pen, so only the multiple choice answers are visible. The student must pick the question based on the answers alone. I set a timer for each team to solve their que
