This is a Menus Project I created this past year to incorporate differentiated instruction into my lessons. Students make choices as to which parts they want to complete. All students are required to accumulate 40 points to earn full credit. Some topics in this project are slope, y-intercept, functions, and standard form of a linear function.
This 60+ page pdf document gives guided notes, examples, classwork, homework, and review materials for the Transformations Unit which is part of the NYS Integrated Geometry curriculum.
Topics discussed in this pdf are translations, rotations, reflections, dilations, symmetry and composition of transformations.
This 60 page set of Guided Notes go through topics covered in the NYS Integrated Geometry Regents on Constructions, Equations of Circles, Locus, and Compound Locus. The Days are set up for 80 minute blocks and are broken down as follows:
Day 1: Constructions
Day 2: Constructions
Day 3: Circles in the Coordinate Plane
Day 4: Review of Days 1-3
Day 5: Locus
Day 6: Compound Locus in the Coordinate Plane
Day 7: Review of Locus
Day 8: Review of Entire Unit
Guided Examples, Vocab, Practice, and HW a
This is a product I created to encompass all topics dealing with Graphing and Solving Quadratic Functions. Some of the topics students need to know for this activity are minimum, maximum, roots of a quadratic, standard form of a quadratic, vertex, and axis of symmetry.
Students make choices based on the menu and are required to do certain parts of each section to earn full credit. I usually give students 3 class days (60 mins per class) and a week total to complete the project.
This is a 74 page document geared towards the NYS Geometry Regents. This document covers the topics of parallel lines cut by a transversal, parallel and perpendicular lines in the coordinate plane, point slope form of an equation, slope intercept form of an equation, finding and using slopes of lines, and standard form of linear functions.
This is a word document so it can be edited to fit anyone's needs. Each section has guided notes for students to fill in missing information on diagrams, pr
This activity discusses the relationship between exponential growth and decay, along with helping students develop the pattern formed during an exponential model.
Students complete two activities, one involving folding a simple piece of paper, the second is based on cutting pieces of yarn. Each activity has a set of questions that students can answer or can be part of a teacher or student lead discussion. A fun activity that gets students working together and interacting with mathematical relat
This is a 33 page document that details how to do geometry proofs with the use of the coordinate plane. Guided notes are designed to allow students to discover the necessary steps and properties needed to prove triangles, parallelograms, rhombuses, rectangles, squares, and trapezoids. I have used this over the course of about 5 class periods with 80 minute blocks.
The preview file is 3 of the pages from the entire document, one warm-up, one guided notes, and one solution for guided notes.
This lab is an investigation of the diameter and circumference of circles. The goal with this lab to have the class discover the irrational number pi.
Works great in small groups, individually, or with an entire class.
This 40 page document discusses angle theories and relationships with triangles. Some of the activities involved in this unit are rally coaches and mix and matches. Guided notes provided take students through relationships to prove triangle congruence with all different types of triangles. Lesson 4.8 goes through properties of coordinate geometry like reflections, rotations, and translations.
This 60 page pdf includes all necessary content strands for the NYS Integrated Geometry Regents involving Construction and Loci. These are in the form of Guided Notes, Classwork, Homework, and Review Assignments.
The following lessons are on:
1.) Constructions (2 lessons)
2.) Circles in the Coordinate Plane
3.) Locus
4.) Compound Locus in the Coordinate Grid
Also included are 2 lessons of cumulative review to do before a quiz or test. (Quiz and Test not included)
This is a 3 page assignment that gives students several equations and graphs for linear, quadratic, absolute value, and exponential functions. Students are required to sort out each type of graph based on either the equation or a picture. After, students are required to one example of each function, create a graph and answer a couple questions about that function.
