This maths challenge helps students learn: - How to read food labels - Compare and contrast/analyse different foods - Practice calculations, especially multiplication - Think about the nutritional value of various "junk foods" before making informed choices

A great resource to get the children thinking! This allows them to share their perspective on World Cup mascots before solving some challenging mascot maths using algebraic thinking. A template at the end allows them to give their own values for the chosen mascots before they can share them with classmates to solve. My students absolutely loved this challenge!

A great simple resource to practice number and review how numbers can be found in different forms (word, standard, expanded and using Base 10). - Children make their "wanted" number using base 10, e.g. a scary monster or a angry looking cat. - They write the number of their creation in its four different forms. - These "wanted" posters were then displayed around the classroom. - For an extension - introduce thousands (cube) as well as hundreds, tens and units. - Alternatively, make the 100 squar

An engaging maths challenge that allows students to learn about whales while practicing maths skills such a data handling, using number, subtraction, and estimation. There is also the opportunity for them to share their own perspective and research further about these hugely impressive creatures.

- This task allows students to practice the maths skills of: - Addition of multiple multi-digit numbers (they choose how many ingredients go into their potion) - Converting milliliters to liters - Adding with decimals -Converting fractions into decimals I usually have students work in pairs to make their potion pot/cauldron on separate paper. They enjoy getting really creative and sharing their potions (they decide what the potion/spell is for) with the class.

Simple flag identification quiz - great as a class warmer before introducing such topics/events as International Day or fractions in flags.

A slide presentation which not only gives a background about the game of rugby, but allows students to solve some rugby-themed math problems.

Students use the table to answer the set questions. This was great to practice problem solving, data handling and even introduced some fraction to percentage conversion. Answers included.

Simple equivalent fraction challenge activity - self-differentiated. - Students copy and complete (or print and complete) the table. - Practice working with equivalent fractions and simplifying fractions.

Simple multiplication challenge - each getting harder than the last (single digit, single and double digit and double digit x double digit problems). This comes with the answers if needed.
