Thirty-three years of teaching American History, Governmnet and World History.
Teaching style
I've taught all levels from honors, to average, to special education, to ESL. In addition, I have twenty-five years experience teaching in an inclusion setting. As a result, I have a very good idea how to differentiate my materials in order to reach a wide range of learning styles and ability levels. My materials include many custom made animations, audio clips, video clips, and activities involving movement in order to keep interest level high and to avoid monotony.
Awards & shining teacher moments
Who's Who In America's Teachers (I was featured in this several times. Sorry to say, though, you'll have to take my word for it. I didn't keep track of the years!)
KJOY Teacher of the Week (local radio station - I got a plaque with my name spelled wrong and a fifty dollar gift certificate to a local restaurant. It was a nice surprise, and the plaque has proven to be a nice conversation starter!)
My own education history
B.S., Human Service Studies, Cornell University, 1992; M.S., Social Studies Education, City University of New York at Queens College, 1998;
M.S., Instructional Technology, New York Institute of Technology, 2002.
