Thank you for taking the time to view my product. As a USH teacher, my goal is to take out the fluff and provide the students with what they need to know to get an understanding of historical events. By getting "down and dirty", my students and I can spend more time on analysis, conversation and activities that engage them in the historical learning process. The goal for this activity is to compare and contrast speeches by Sir Winston Churchill "Never surrender" and President Roosevelt "Day of Infamy". My recommendation would be to watch the adapted speech clips (Better reaction with students) from the motion pictures: Darkest Hour (https://www.youtube.com/embed/skrdyoabmgA) and Pearl Harbor (https://www.youtube.com/embed/s7hc0oyEfgE). There is a serious of H.I.P.P Analysis questions.

Hexagonal Thinking - How to guide

What is hexagonal thinking: This is more of an AP US History idea but I felt it increases the critical thinking of honor students. The goal of this strategy is to focus on connections between concepts. A hexagon has 6 sides. Each side is able to connect to a different concept. The catch is - the words MUST have a commonality or connection. For my honor students, I simplified it. For each lesson, I've given a word bank of 6 concepts/words. Their job is to pair them off and explain the connection.

About the store

Experience

I am a high school social studies teacher. I've taught all levels of both World History and U.S History to include: ESE, ESOL, Regular, Honors and A.P.

Teaching style

My teaching style focuses on a flipped classroom. The first day, I follow a more traditional practice of an interactive lesson. Each lesson focuses not only on content material, but critical thinking questions and discussions along with primary and secondary source analysis. My material is chunked to offer maximum comprehension. The next day, students will reinforce their learning through an activity. I do believe in class discussion. I believe in student centered learning.
