This Paper Airplane Unit allows for us to introduce the LAUNCH cycle, our districts version of the scientific process. This is a review game that I play at the end of each class as we approach a unit test. The game is played by having the teacher print and cut each piece. Hand one piece to each student. Have one student read the "Who has" portion of their card. Another student in the room has the answer. When they hear the question that matches their "I have" response, the student reads their response aloud. This is a project that is used throughout the Renaissance & Reformation unit. The project description and rubric allow the students a chance to interpret their understanding and skills through creativity with a short written description. This rubric and expectation is easy to differentiate for your learners that need altered expectations. I have cut the assignment in half and only required one drawing. I have also provided images that students can use while creating their best interpretation
This is an assessment that allows students to reflect on items and ideas that represent their own culture. This also requires students to reflect on other cultures. This could be used as a test, test prep, or writing piece.
This is a formative assessment. This prediction piece is used at the beginning of a unit to allow students to see their growth throughout the unit. I ask the students to take the words on the left side of the assessment and put them into a story. The students are then asked to reflect back to this assessment at the end of the unit to measure accuracy. (This most of the time draws a huge laugh from the students.)

This essay / summative assessment allows for students to reflect on how the American Civil War started after a change in public opinion. I have encouraged students to reflect back to the events leading up to the Civil War and asked for them to include specific examples that led to America's most costly conflict.
