I went read through all the previous Reading STAARs for you and identified the "test talk" that students have the most trouble with. Written in Verdana Font (the same font used on the STAAR test), you can choose to either leave the back blank or use the sheet provided to write a strategy or answer for the given term.

There are two versions, pictures for primary and just words for secondary. Print on yellow, red, and green card stock and laminate. You can then put them on a ring or create a mini flip chart. As far as I've seen, this is the only student data tracker to also track effort and include an effort scale and positive quote. How is that possible???! Why aren't we consistently reinforcing the relationship between effort and success?? Apart from the 2 Test Grade/Effort Trackers, I've included a Reading and Writing Goals Sheets that list ***42*** goal ideas for kids. Why reinvent the wheel? They usually have an idea of what they need to work on but a list goes a LONG way. Bundle includes 4 oth

With State Testing, we all know it's beneficial to monitor our student's behavior during testing so we can help them overcome damaging behaviors such as not using strategies, a normally confident child that appears excessively nervous, or bathroom breaks that are too long or too frequent. The form is IN COLOR so you can record what number the student is on at each step of a loooooong test. Suddenly it will become obvious who goes painfully slow and then bubbles in half the answers in the last t

Teaching style

I always want my students to understand the purpose of the lesson. If there is no relevance then it won't stick. I try to give them the why and connect to prior learning as much as possible. I am also very visual and have studied and created films, so I try to incorporate pictures and videos as much as I can.

My own education history

Bachelor of Arts - Science, Technology and Society - Vassar College

Additional biographical information

I've been a bilingual K-5 teacher in Texas since 2007 but am certified through 12.
