This chart gives students choices in dialogue tags. The tags are grouped generally around emotions to help student narrow their decision making when writing. This is the basic 'script' for writing a 5 paragraph essay. I use it for ELLs and students with disabilities to help them get the format of an essay, especially during tests. The essay is written to promote correct grammar and be easily memorized. Students learn to write an outline with their supports and thesis then they can use this script to connect their ideas. The script has underlines places where items from the outline are included.
