About the store
I spent 8 years teaching high school - 6 years as a Math Teacher, primarily in Geometry and Algebra 2, but also taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and Calculus. Then I spent 2 years as a mild-moderate special education teacher in English and Math. I had my own classroom, acted as a co-teacher, taught vocational transitions, and oversaw Coffee Cart and Work Experience programs. I've also coached volleyball and scholar bowl. Later, in a private Christian school, I served as School Board Vice Chair. I am currently homeschooling my 1st and 4th graders.

Students cut out the variables from the instructions page then tape/glue them into the Independent Variables/Dependent Variables table. Variables come in pairs/from the same situation, but are completely mixed up on the page they cut them from. The direction page includes an example. Use this activity in your Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, or Algebra 2 class to help students practice determining if a variable is independent or dependent. Made on a full page of paper, but can be used in an interacti

This handout covers three possibilities - direct variation, inverse variation, and neither. There are charts/directions/descriptions for determining which type of variation is present for tables, graphs, and equations. This version has all bubbles filled in. If you'd like, I can blank out parts of the charts so you can use this as a note taking activity free of charge! =) You may also apply your own whiteout if you'd like to go that route. =)

Students use toothpicks (or straws, dry pasta, etc) to model triangles of various dimensions to discover the Triangle Inequality Theorem, a+b>c. This is a fully editable Word Document. The focus of this activity is to determine if a triangle is possible given the side measurements. You may also want to briefly hint at what types of triangles are created (isosceles, equilateral, right) as a preview, especially for your advanced/curious students. Flashcards to help your students practice the symbols for their conditional statements - conditional, converse, inverse, and contrapositive. Students may use "p" and "q" or use "1" and "2." I find many students are more successful with the numbers, but I always let them pick what works best for them. I ask them to either use all letters or all numbers so they don't confuse themselves. Sometimes, a student will commit to one, and then switch to the other option and I think that's great! =)

Teaching style

I try to make the most of every minute! I love to implement games and hands on learning activities as much as I can. I take a lot of pride in all that I do, and care deeply for my students.

Awards & shining teacher moments

My math students consistently scored very well on state standardized tests. As a math teacher, I was named STAR teacher for one month (by students) and Teacher of the Week (by coworkers/administration).

My own education history

Southwestern Heights High School, Kismet, KS - Valedictorian; Evangel University, Springfield, MO - Outstanding Graduate of the Science and Technology Department
