This is a great activity to begin any Shakespeare unit. I begin by asking the students to tap into their prior knowledge of Shakespeare and brainstorm all they know on the board. I then take them to the library or computer lab (or have them research on their personal devices) and have them look up information on his life, the theatre and Elizabethan England in order to complete these two activities.

I have a Bachelor's of Education degree with a minor in English and a major in Physical Education. In 2012 I completed a Masters of Arts degree in Physical Education, and I now have a PhD in Education and am currently a teacher-educator.
