About the store
My very first job teaching was in San Salvador, teaching English to adults and Bible School to children at Mt. Sion church. After that I began teaching, in the United States, in Third Grade, and since then I have moved to First, then Sixth, and now Second. Teaching is the only thing I have every wanted to do and I am so thrilled to have multi-level and multi-lingual experience.

Using Formulas - Math Notes
This file contains a student copy and teacher key for Math notes on using formulas. The notes give students a chance to practice plugging in numbers for simple formulas. I created these notes to introduce how to work with a simple formula before diving into complicated problem solving.

These notes introduce applying multiplication and division properties to solve equations. The notes include a key and guided questions for students to work through with the teacher.

Word Work: Form a Sentence
You can change the words in the boxes that students cut out to alter the sentence meaning. I use this as a word work and sentence structure station at the beginning of Second Grade. I have also used this in First Grade to teach sentence structure. Remind students to include a period or other punctuation mark needed at the end with a red marker.

Teaching style
I follow a cooperative learning model and actively differentiate station work for my Second Graders. They work at their stations for Literacy and for Math. I believe that students learn best when they have to think critically and problem solve with others. Learning happens through experiencing failure.
Additional biographical information
I am currently serving on my district's Writing and Math curriculum committees and am dedicated to improving learning experiences for our students.
