Three worksheets on performing compositions of transformations and how to read and write transformations in mathematical notation. Worksheet 1: Practice performing compositions using the previously learned rules for individual transformations. It includes space for the rules and three practice examples involving non-regular polygons. Worksheet 2: Practice translating from math notation to English sentences. Notes included how to read transformations and compositions in mathematical notation. 10
This is the second day of a transformations unit. The first is a practice page where students are given shapes on the graph and a written description of the movement. Students need to find the coordinates of the pre-image and image and describe the change in x and y. Students also need to graph and label the image. The second page is an activity with students practicing describing translations by describing a player's movements navigating a map to pick up all the essential items needed for sur
This was the first lesson in a transformation unit that included translations, reflections, rotations, and dilations. The note sheet is on the front, and the worksheet is on the back. The notes include space to define rigid motions, a diagram showing the transition from a pre-image to the image, and a place to explicitly state what changes with a translation and what does not change. The worksheet on the back includes three practice problems where the coordinates of the pre-image have been giv
Practice describing translations of objects on a grid without needing the object's coordinates. Students must describe the movements needed to pick up all the objects from the map. The route has been given, and two keys are provided for the students to describe the movements. It can easily be made into a competition between students to find the most efficient way through the map by whiting out the numbers in the "Movement" column.
