I have created 4 wall posters that describe Marzano's Level of Understanding: recall, skill, strategic thinking, and extended thinking.
I will have mine posted around the room so students are able to see what level they are at before, during, and after a unit. They will also use these to record in their student data binders their progress.
Comes in black and white chevron print, which is great for teachers without access to a color printer!
This is a fun assignment for students that are learning the selling process in a marketing or other business class. Students use a free online program called Storyboard That to create a storyboard/comic strip that details the selling process. Students love creating these creative and fun storyboards- we have alot of laughs in class! Saving and submitting is easy as well- students just have to email, tweet, or Facebook them to you! UPDATED: Now in a Word format rather than PNG file.
Use this after the Professional Email Tips PowerPoint. This document includes 4 examples of poorly written emails that students need to fix. Great assignment for middle and high school to learn how to really write a professional email. My students thought this was funny and enjoyed re-writing them.
This is a one page document that goes through my procedures for smooth sailing in a high school classroom. Each student is given a copy the first day of school and kept in their class binder. We practice and model these routines every day.
There are 8 topics covered, including:
Hall passes
Homework
Quizzes/Test
Warm-ups
Entering the Room
Quiet Signal
Completion of Work
Tardy consequences
This is completely editable in Word.
Adapted from material Lynette Angood developed for Jenison High Sch
Students go around the room to 4 different stations in which there are different types of advertisements displayed (magazine, Instagram, celebrity endorsements, and TV). Students use their customer profile wheels (you can print out or have students create earlier) to complete a customer profile for each of the different types of ads. At the last station, students will trace a group member onto large roll paper and then color the "person" to represent one of their customer profiles. Five question
This reflection can be used for any group project; it's set up for a marketing research project but can be easily tweaked by changing the heading and reflection pieces (ie. change 'Primary Research' to whatever you had students do for the project). There are two parts to this reflection- a group piece for them to do together and an individual portion. I usually give students about 15 minutes in their groups to complete, and another 10 individually at the end of a project to complete this. You
This is a full year course outline for Introduction to Marketing. It includes standards from MBAResearch, tentative timeline, SAT writing activities, and assessments/activities/games for each unit. Marketing Essentials 2016 chapters are referenced. This has taken me two years to produce, and would be a huge asset to anyone teaching a marketing course. Units include entrepreneurship, selling, pricing, market research, economics, and more. If you purchase, I would be happy to share updates as I
Fridays can be fun AND full of learning with this idea called 5x5 Friday. 5 students compete with 5 minutes, 5 slides, and a chance to earn an automatic 55 points! I also give out $5.00 gift cards to our school based enterprise to our winner. It's competitive and fun but more importantly students are engaged and learning some new and interesting in business. These have been so successful that I have presented on them at a state-wide marketing educators conference. My students LOVE Fridays again!
Use this ready to go template on Canva to introduce yourself to your new classes or parents! I've used this one page sheet to send home in an email and also post on Google Classroom at the start of a new year. Access this resource by paying, then downloading and clicking on the embedded link to access the template on www.canva.com. You'll quickly add a photo, your contact information, five favorite things, and a quick bio (or steal mine with minor substitutions). *Please make sure you are comf
This 10 slide PowerPoint teaches students some of the tips for writing professional emails. It comes with two examples that need fixing. I use this with my 9-12 graders but would be appropriate for middle school or even adult education as well.
You can also purchase the assignment "Bad Emails" for more practice and to complete the full hour long lesson.
This is a weekly assignment that I have my kids do. I gave them this rubric at the beginning of the year with all of the different formats they would see throughout the year. You could do this is any subject and age really, just tailor it to fit your needs!
Keeping up on current events is important for everyone- start them out young so they can stay informed later in life!
Also practices reading comprehension and critical thinking. Technology is also used.
You will need two files- the preview file and then the paid download which has all of the instructions.
Students will open the file Wadhams Total Fitness Report and follow the instructions on Word Practice #2 to work on cover pages, table of contents, inserting tables, screenshots, and more.
A great activity for 8th grade and up in a computer class or a class that wants practice with created reports on computers.
I have my students fill one of these out after every chapter assessment. It allows me not only to have great feedback for the next time I teach that unit, but helps me to know what the students are still struggling with. I ask them questions like what note taking style they like best and if they have suggestions for reviewing better next time.
I love hearing what my students think throughout the year, and this is a great way to do it!
It's a Word format so you can edit it to fit your needs!
Looking for a fun way to introduce or strengthen student's knowledge of the selling process? Read Dr. Suess' Green Eggs & Ham to your students (YES! Even my high schoolers like it!) and have them complete this re-write activity. Students have fun coming up with rhymes and alternative drawings to the original book. Reinforces the 6 steps of selling process: approach, determining needs, features/benefits, overcoming objections, close, and suggestion selling.
Perfect for introducing Marketing and the 4Ps! Students will read a quick article on Hubspot, answer questions, and then roam their school looking for examples of marketing. They will take pictures of what they find and share with teacher and classmates. Students get creative finding the best shots or creating examples with their friends.
Watch the episode of The Office- Traveling Salesman and have students complete the worksheet. Goes over selling topics such as pitching, closing the sale, relating to customers, etc.
Students will choose a social media and create an infographic on it using piktochart. Infographics are a great way to display information in an unique way. It's important for students to learn about social media and display their findings.
Rubric included.
This is a twist on the popular spoons game. Instead of using playing cards, use the cards given. Students have to match the "title cards" with their descriptions. For example, if they get the celebrity endorsement card, they must find the "using Blake Lively in a hair commercial ad" to make a match.
Google how to play spoons if you are unfamiliar. This was fun and served as a great review for my students.
In this assignment, students are walked through the very basics on how to insert an image in Word, duplicate it, change its color, etc.
I've used with high school but would be fine for much younger students.
