This notes template will help students learn to factor trinomials of the form ax^2 + bx + c when a=1 or a≠1 using the box method. Since students benefit from the box strategy for multiplying polynomials, why not use the box as a model for factoring? Students will develop deeper understanding of mathematics if they can translate between representations fluently. My students enjoy using a strategy called "Rule of Four" for solving word problems.
