This timeline gives a detailed account of the gradual slide into full scale war in 1914. Students will be able to see the domino effect certain key decisions had on nations entering the war. The timeline of events allows students to grasp how the war was caused by a multitude of factors which they will be able to trace and recall with their timeline. Teachers, you will have the master copy of notes for students to fill in the blanks as you teach this portion of your WW1 unit.

This map activity is an excellent way for students to get an idea of the nations caught up in the world war during 1914-1918. The maps of Europe were much different than they are today. It also gives student a fundamental understanding of which nations where on which sides (Allies/ Central Powers). Students will label nations, key cities, and bodies of water. Then they will color various countries belonging to opposing sides of war, neutral nations, and neutral nations that later joined the war.
