This is a plot diagram with guiding questions for How the Grinch Stole Christmas. This was designed for level 3 English Language Learners in 6th grade but absolutely could be used with younger learners and older ELLs. There is also a whole pre-reading slide deck in my store for How the Grinch Stole Christmas that I used prior to this activity as well. Enjoy and Happy Holidays!

This slideshow is a complete pre-reading guide for How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It includes a meet the author section and vocabulary work using context clues. There are student worksheets embedded right into the slides as well! These slides took my 6th grade level 3 EL students three 47 minute blocks to complete.

This end of the year activity is a big hit with my classes! The memory book is filled with themed pages, prompts, and spaces for students to gather notes and signatures. We typically spend about 3-4 class periods working on these books. Some of the pages included are: -classroom highlights -all about me right now -teachers' spotlight -school mascot This was also designed to be open ended, so it works for all middle school grades. About: In this set you find 15 different BINGO cards created from a list of halloween themed words. It also has multiple videos embedded into it to break up the note taking. This was designed to be ELL (English Language Learner) friendly with simple context focused langauge used throughout. In this assignment students are asked to make their own flag and then explain their reasoning behind what they create. It has a brainstorming activity built into it help the stduents get their ideas out onto paper before creating their final flag. I use it as a begnign of the year activity as one way of getting to know my students. However, you could use this at any time really. Have some fun with your students before the holidays! This is a complete trivia game that highlights 10 different winter holidays around the world. The game is broken down into 5 rounds, with 10 questions in each. All answers are revealed at the end of each round. This was designed with multiple rounds so it can be broken up over the course of multiple days if needed. For example, you could let your students play 1 round per day for a week. This slideshow explains how to determine viewpoint of texts in three different ways. The first is through pictures, the second through pictures and texts, and the final way is just through a text. It was designed for ELL (English language learners) but would work for any students!

This Latin American Civilizations trivia game is focused on the main three groups: the Aztec, Maya, and Inca. It consits of 27 quations all content focused but written in simple terms. This project was designed for level 1 English Language Learners in 6th grade. Prior to completing it students had spent the year learning about geography focusing on the United States of America in their social studies class. This was used as their final project to allow students to demonstrate their knowledge and language in a creative way. This acticity was used in an ELL (English Language Learner's) level 1 geography class. It was used to recape physical features and get students to start exploring which types of physical features that can be found in Latin America.
