This product goes along with a Character Traits unit. Use alongside any story to help students find evidence to support their claim of a character trait.
This graphic organizer makes it simple to teach your students how to link 3 key details from a text to the main idea! At the beginning of the year, we fill this graphic organizer out as a class. Over time, we identify the main idea together and students begin to find the details on their own. Eventually, students are filling out the organizer completely independently and even using it to write a summary using transition words! Note: The graphic organizer is differentiated for writing abilities.
These CUBES posters come in both black and white as well as color. You can use these as an interactive coloring sheet where students have to add the circle, underline, box, and other symbols on their own, or simply print these as ready-to-use posters. The dashed line around the edge can serve as a border or a cutting guide if you want these to be glued into interactive math journals!
I love to do a "Problem of the Day" each day as a warmup with my students. This is a single problem that either reviews a concept we've already learned or is aligned with the concept we are covering that week in class. I project the word problem on the board and after reading it as a class, students complete this sheet independently. This product includes two different templates. Each template is only a half sheet to save that priceless paper!
This product takes students through writing a literary essay based on a thesis statement on character traits. The packet includes writing an introduction, collecting evidence for each character trait, writing a body paragraph, and writing a conclusion. There are a few pages at the end for students to write their final essay.
Every year I have a variety of professionals come into my class and present to my students about their jobs, how they got there, etc. Students are able to ask questions and engage with the experts. After, they use these workbooks to reflect on what they learned and if the presenter's career seems like something that would interest them in their future.
