In 2024-2025 I am tutoring 2nd–8th grade, substituting K-12 and learning software development to create digital educational programs.
After using several visual patterns as warm ups building up to writing equations, I created this to push my students to figure out how to determine the slope and y intercept of an equation from a table that skips x values and doesn't include 0. This worked great with Building Thinking Classroom practices, especially with students who are familiar with writing equations from visual patterns. I've personally used it with advanced 6th graders and 7th graders. A detailed answer key and questions
Card sort matching fraction multiplication problems to various visual representations and verbal descriptions. The recording sheet and follow up reflection questions ask students to sort the problems into expressions where the product is less than both factors, less than one and greater than the other, and greater than both factors and generalize when each happens.
