This worksheet is the BEST!!! It shows students a few different things:
1: Electrons always fill the inner-most shell first, then work their way out.
2: 2, 8, 8 electron shell pattern
3: Basic structure of the PTofE
4: Patterns of valence electrons in the PTofE
Don't lecture students on all of these facts; first have them complete this worksheet, then hold a group discussion on the patterns they found. The worksheet takes approximately 1 class period to complete.
Discussion can occur same
I use these 2 checklists to help me stay on top of the dozens of different steps in the IEP process. I prefer to print it out and write on it. I also get a big kick out of crossing out and entire column when I am officially done with all of the steps/parts of a student's annual/triennial IEP! :) It is a Google Sheets document, so you should be able to make edits and changes to best meet your own needs. The current version is fitting my virtual program + virtual IEP meeting needs/steps. There
This is the chart that I complete at the beginning of the school year. It helps me start my year strong, get to know some of my students needs, and it serves as a starting point for preparing for IEP meetings throughout the school year. Keep in mind that I use this chart in collaboration with other documents and practices to best complete my job and serve my students/families. This is just 1 piece of that puzzle. The document is made with Google Docs and thus you should be able to edit it a
Here is a pdf version of how I visually explain the ionic charge of an atom. I prefer to work our way through this as notes instead of instructing them via PPT. I then move on to ionic bonds where I show that the extra electrons come from other atoms, such as hydrogen.
