I am a 5th grade teacher in Virginia, and a mom of two amazing little girls. Although 5th grade is my home, I have also taught both 3rd and 4th grade. My expertise is mainly in science and math as those two subjects are my absolute favorite!
This project has both a paper and Google Slides digital version! Students will be meteorologists and track the weather for one week (Monday-Friday). Students will complete field notes of the weather each day in a journal of their choice. They will discuss the types of clouds they see each day and make predictions for the future based off the clouds they see. They will record the low and high temperature for the day, and plot the low temperature line plot and high temperature line plot throughout
Adding, Subtracting, Multiplying, and Dividing Word Problems - Only whole numbers used in these problems. - For multiplying, factors do not exceed 3 digits by 2 digits - For dividing, dividends are 4 digits or less, and divisors are 2 digits or less I have students cut up the questions and answers. They solve the questions and match them to the correct answer choice. Answer key is included!
This PDF includes the sharable copy links for four different math google forms. Two google forms are similar to an exit ticket style, while the other two are a break-out with a secret word with decipher key at the end! The topics for the four google forms include - computation (whole number & decimal), number sense (rounding & prime/composite), fractions & mixed numbers (add, subtract, multiply, ordering), and order of operations. I upload these on Google Classroom for the students to complete!
Need something for a cumulative computation review? These task cards are a great station for math centers! Addition, Subtraction, Multiplying, and Dividing - Whole Numbers Only This set of 20 task cards are made up of single and multi-step word problems as well as basic computation problems. These task cards incorporate adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Multiplication problems are included with factors up to three times two. Division problems are included with divisors no more than
Quick pre-assessment to determine what students know and do not know about fractions! Topics include the following... - identifying numerator/denominator - identifying proper fractions - identifying improper fractions - identifying mixed numbers - turning fractions with 10, 100, 1000 in denominator into decimals - turning decimals into fractions with a 10, 100, 1000 in denominator - simplifying fractions - equivalent fractions - add/subtract fractions with like and unlike denominators
This exit ticket has 6 word problems that cover VA SOL 5.6. Students will be adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. Students will also multiply a fraction by a whole number.
This set of task cards practices determining the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data. You can fold these task cards and place them in plastic eggs around your room for an egg hunt! There are QR codes you can put up for each question that allows students to check their answers on their own. Set of 12 Task Cards
Two activities are included in this file. The first activity has students measure bags of candy hearts to determine their mass. They will use the data found from the bags to create a stem-and leaf plot and then answer questions analyzing their data. In the second activity, students are counting how many conversation hearts are in each of the 10 bags. Then taking their data and determine the mean, median, mode, and range of the data set. For each activity, I make bags resulting in the data I wan
These task cards help kids practice order of operations. You can use them in a small group setting or have them as a math center around the room! Set of 12 Task Cards
Need something for a cumulative decimal computation review? These task cards are a great station for math centers! Addition, Subtraction, Multiplying, and Dividing Decimals This set of 20 task cards are made up of single and multi-step word problems as well as basic computation problems. These task cards incorporate adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing. Multiplication problems are included with factors up to three digits times two digits. Division problems are included with divisors n
Set of 24 total task cards that practice comparing and ordering fractions (proper and improper), decimals, and mixed numbers. These task cards are are divided into three groups (8 task cards in each group). There is a low level, mid level, and high level set of questions. Each group of questions has some of the same word problems, but with different numbers.
This activity has students collecting data to create a stem-and-leaf plot. They will analyze their data and determine the mean, median, mode, and range of the data set as well. For this activity I use plastic laundry bins and blow up basketballs. Students will get with a partner to collect data. Each partner has 1 minute to shoot as many baskets as they can. Each partner totals their baskets to determine one data point for the class data set!
Traditional Go Fish game but with fractions and decimals! This game has 12 sets of 4 cards that match. Each set has two equivalent fractions, the decimal equivalent, and a model representation. Students can make groups of 2 or 4 with the cards depending on ability!
This is a PBA (project based assessment) where students are creating a care package to send to soldiers overseas. The students have a $100 budget to spend on their package and must stay under that amount in the end. They must choose a box, five nonperishable items, five food items, and a shipping rate. Each box holds a different weight, so students must convert metric units to determine what box is needed for all ten of their items to fit! This could be one of your math stations for students to
This set of 24 task cards practices the following VA 5th Grade SOLs (5.2b) - Adding/Subtracting Fractions (Unlike Denominators) - Multiplying Fractions by Whole Numbers - Simplify Fractions - Equivalent Fractions - Fraction/Decimal Equivalents
There are three sets of four problem solving task cards here. Each of the three sets are grouped by topic. The first set contains four problems about fundraising, the second set contains four problems about a wedding, and the third set contains four problems about a bakery. Each of the problems in each set build upon each other, so students must answer task card 1 before moving on to task card 2. There is a recording sheet for each set to help keep the students organized.
This is the traditional chain game covering 5th grade whole number VA SOLs. One student begins by reading the "who has" on the bottom of their card. Students will continue the chain until the starting student shares their "I have". When one complete cycle has been made, the game is up! You can time students to make it more challenging and fun! Reviews: Place Value, Value of a Digit, Word Form, Odd/Even, Prime/Composite, & Patterns Set of 24 cards
This exit ticket ticket has students ordering fractions, decimals, and mixed numbers from least to greatest and greatest to least. There are both straight ordering problems and word problems.
Four quick exit tickets are included in this pack. One four question exit ticket for each of the following skills - 1. Add without Regrouping 2. Add with Regrouping 3. Subtract without Regrouping 4. Subtract with Regrouping
