This set of task cards practices determining the mean, median, mode, and range of a set of data. You can fold these task cards and place them in plastic eggs around your room for an egg hunt! Two activities are included in this file. The first activity has students measure bags of candy hearts to determine their mass. They will use the data found from the bags to create a stem-and leaf plot and then answer questions analyzing their data. This activity has students collecting data to create a stem-and-leaf plot. They will analyze their data and determine the mean, median, mode, and range of the data set as well. For this activity I use plastic laundry bins and blow up basketballs. Students will get with a partner to collect data. Each partner has 1 minute to shoot as many baskets as they can. Each partner totals their baskets to determine one data point for the class data set!
This activity has students collecting data about sibling age to create a line plot and stem-and-leaf plot. They will create both data displays to show similarities between the two. They will answer questions analyze the data collected and determine the mean, median, mode, and range of the data set.

My own education history
I was enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Program from 6th - 12th grade. I spent my freshman year of college at Longwood University studying Liberal Studies: Elementary Education. I transferred and finished my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies with a minor in Elementary Education and Biology at James Madison University. I continued my education and obtained my Master of Arts in Teaching from James Madison University as well. More recently, I finished the Administrative program at James Madison University and am certified to be a k-12 administrator.
