These resources allow children to explore dividing on a numberline through the medium of golf. The resources that accompany the Notebook are differentiated 'rounds of golf' where children try to complete the division calculations in the least amount of shots as possible. Reasoning question is posed at the bottom of the activity.

Included is a Notebook and three differentiated activities involving the 9 times table. Each challenge can be done as a whole class activity which then spreads over three lessons or each activity can be used as a differentiated activity. Each activity gets more challenging from challenge 1, 2, and 3.

The lesson starts with some hinge questions where children can think about the question posed and then go to the correct place in the classroom - ALWAYS TRUE, SOMETIMES TRUE, NEVER TRUE. The Notebook explores what mathematical thinking is and explores the idea that Maths isn't about finding the right answer but 'having a go' and exploring. The lesson can be over two lessons and in the first one, introduce the problem and then allow children to explore and find the answer however they wish. Th

This differentiated sheet works best when laminated. Children can play in pairs to generate numbers before deciding whether to multiply by 6, 7, or 9.
