Thinking Pattern Posters - Addition & Subtraction

These posters are made to include the three main thinking patterns for solving addition and subtraction story problems: some and some more, some went away, bigger smaller difference. If you want the version with owls and pennants, you can purchase it here: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Thinking-Pattern-Posters-wowls-pennants. I also have a football themed version. Email if you have a request for a different clipart theme. mrsacolwell@gmail.com

Fact Families with The 3 Bears

This is a complete lesson that uses the the characters from The Three Bears story to teach students how numbers work together to create a fact family. It challenges students to find the "Goldilocks" out of a set of 4 numbers; the number that doesn't fit in the family. It allows for practice of writing addition and subtraction equations. Fun and colorful and engaging.

Five in a Row addition game

A fun way to practice addition! This is a SMART notebook file that contains a gameboard and dice to play an addition game. Roll the two dot dice. Add the two addends together. Cover up the sum on the gameboard using the color counters shown. Students can work together as partners to try to cover "5 in a row," or they can compete with different colors and try to cover 5 in a row before their opponent. Cover all numbers for a "black out" challenge.
