Inspector Flytrap is a Venus Flytrap that solves mysteries with his assistant, Nina the goat! Multiple mysteries are solved in this story and culminates with all of the characters coming together for one last hoo-rah! This novel by Tom Angleberger is very humorous and helps students make predictions to help solve the mysteries alongside the characters. It is geared for students in grades 1-4 but low readers in grade five might also enjoy the silliness of this book.

I was nominated and featured in the 2013 Center for Digital Education (CDE) Yearbook Issue, a magazine that showcases innovative teaching techniques using technology. I was one of fifty educators chosen based on an independent study I completed to integrate intercultural communication with technology while focusing on standards. All of the software and internet programs used for this study were free, open use and allowed the students to establish pen pals in Pakistan. I presented at the Ohio Confederation of Teacher Education Organizations’ Spring Conference Roundtables in March 2013 for this study.
